Bioinformatics Analyst

The Position

As a key member of the Kintai Research and Development team, the bioinformatics analyst will enable Kintai’s pioneering work in microbiome pharmacology. In close collaboration with Kintai team members in chemistry, biology, and metabolomics, the candidate will work to help facilitate the analysis of data generated across a variety of experimental technologies, helping lead to insights that will further enhance Kintai’s research efforts.


  • Process various ‘omics data sets using Kintai’s proprietary analysis methodologies/pipelines
  • Write software to facilitate the visualization and statistical analysis of in vitro assay and ‘omics data
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to analyze and interpret results generated by Kintai’s precision enteric medicine platform
  • Aide in the development of new ‘omics analysis methodologies and pipelines
  • Maintain detailed records of work conducted via version control and electronic laboratory notebook

Required Experience

  • Bachelors degree in biological sciences, data science, computer science, chemistry, physics, engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to write software in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, R, Ruby) to perform data analyses and text file manipulation
  • Experience applying basic probability and statistical tests in data analysis
  • Comfort and successful track record presenting data analysis results to audiences of various technical expertise

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience working with and analyzing multi-dimensional genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and/or metabolomics data sets
  • Knowledge of common technologies utilized in cell and molecular biology
  • Comfort working in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Experience working with data analysis tools in Python or R such as Pandas, Plotly, ggPlot2, etc.
  • Demonstrated agility; ability to work in a high energy organization with evolving goals and deliverables
  • Results Oriented: Self-motivated, curious, accomplishes goals with minimal oversight.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to work well with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Authenticity: Ability to voice their opinion and provide insight to the broader team, even when holding a minority or “out of the box” opinion. Ability to thrive with input from a cross-functional team while remaining the unquestioned expert in her/his area.
